ABUJA, NIGERIA – Emmanuel Amuneke, a former African Footballer of the Year and member of the 1994 Super Eagles, is overjoyed that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the award of three-bedroom apartments to the team for winning the AFCON championship that year
“It’s a dream come true for all members of the squad, and I want to express my gratitude to the President for granting the team’s wish.
I’d also like to commend Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, Minister of Works and Housing, for taking it upon himself to make it happen.
It’s a pity that some of our members are no longer alive, but the good news is that the families they left behind have something to fall back on by this latest development.
While thanking President Buhari for the house gifts 27 years after the pledge, Samson Siasia expressed concern that persons receiving the keys to the houses no longer had the initial privileges of determining where the houses should be built.
Nevertheless, Siasia still remains grateful to President Buhari for including late members of the squad amongst those to benefit from the largesse coming now after 27 years.
