The first Nigerian head coach in NBA History!

USA – Retired professional basketball star, Ime Udoka (43) is set to be appointed the new head coach of Boston Celtics. It was gathered negotiations are in top gear and are already dotting the lines of a deal for him to assume the role.

Udoka has been in the league as an assistant coach for nearly a decade, with a bulk of that time spent working under his former head coach in San Antonio, Gregg Popovich.

After seven seasons in the NBA and a 2012 stint playing for UCAM Murcia CB in Spain, he returned to the Spurs in 2012 as an assistant coach. He was on staff in 2014 when they beat the Heat to capture the NBA championship.

Udoka joined the staff of the 76ers for the 2019-20 campaign before landing with the Nets at the start of the 2020-21 season. We wish him all the best.
