Extended travel restrictions on South Africa

SOUTH AFRICA – As the third wave of the coronavirus blows over South Africa, there is the tendency for a tighter lockdown, which could result in the country losing out on major potential tourism, while international travel suspensions remain in place.

Emirate airline said on Monday, June 21st, that flights from South Africa will be canceled until further notice in line with government directives in their country hub.

The Delta Airlines route between Atlanta and Johannesburg is another with a delayed return. The flight was supposed to start in October 2020, but it has been postponed multiple times owing to limitations and US travel bans. The launch date has been pushed back from July 2021 to August 2021. A route from Atlanta to Cape Town was also planned by the airline but the idea has been dropped for now.
